How should one prepare for the UPSC civil services exam 2018 with all the speculation about the changes recommended by Baswan committee ?

This question or doubt is common to many aspirants especially after all the major newspapers published that the government is considering recommendations proposed by Baswan.
Many aspirants are in view that new syllabus will be added or optional will be removed.
General studies remain the same and the syllabus will not be changed as the syllabus was changed recently (2013).
Till the new announcement made by the government/UPSC regarding optional and age criteria, you can keep aside your optional subject and you can start reading or learning topics mentioned in the general studies syllabus.
Prelims syllabus remains same and will be same in 2018 or in 2019. So without wasting time on speculation you can prepare for prelims and attempt numerous mock exams.
Change in age criteria will not be announced for 2018 notification as it can affect large number of aspirants if announced in short period of time.
Please keep all speculations and rumors aside and focus on core subjects preparation along with current events. This saves your time and helps you even in the case of changes.
If you waste this time speculating changes as per the recommendations of the Baswan committee, you will again waste your time after prelims thinking whether you cross the cut off or not. So, never indulge in such activities utilize the time to the best of your ability to learn general studies and attempt mock tests.
All the best
