BOTANICAL SURVEY OF INDIA:
- It was established in 1890.
- Sir George King, the then Superintendent of the royal botanic garden calcutta was appointed as First ex officio Honorary Director of the Botanical survey of India.
- It functions under the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
- It carries out taxonomic and floristic studies on wild plant resources of the country.
ZOOLOGICAL SURVEY OF INDIA:
- It was established in the year 1916.
- The Zoological survey of India has its genesis in the establishment of the zoological section of the Indian museum at kolkatta in 1875.
- It has been undertaking survey, exploration and research leading to the advancement of knowledge on the exceptionally rich faunal diversity of the country.
FOREST SURVEY OF INDIA:
- Its headquarters located at Dehradun.
- It has four regional offices at - Shimla, Kolkatta, Nagpur and Bengaluru.
- It assesses forest cover of the country by interpretation of remote sensing satellite data and publishes the results in a biennial report called ' State of Forest Report (SFR)'.
- The zonal offices are mainly engaged in the inventory of forests and trees outside forests.
