Syllabus and preparation sources of IAS prelims paper I 2016

Preliminary examination is the first major hurdle to cross where one needs to compete with lakhs of other aspirants to reach second major hurdle i.e. mains where the competition will be just with other 16,000 to 17,000 aspirants.

7. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and climate change

8. General science

11. NCERT Books - History, Geography, General science, Polity, Economics
12. Indian culture - NIOS
12. Laxmikanth's polity
13. Bipin chandra's Freedom struggle
14. Indian Geography by M.Hussain

17. Debates and discussions on various issues in TV channels

You need to make notes of key points from all the above sources and need to analyse and digest the notes. This notes is also useful for Mains examination.
